In the aftermath of Prince’s death, there were plans to turn his Chanhassen, MN residence, Paisley Park, into a museum. However, TMZ reports that the 60,000 square foot estate — which includes a recording studio, concert venue, and bank vault full of unreleased — may instead go for sale.
The executors of Prince’s estate are petitioning a Minnesota court for permission to sell several of Prince’s properties, including Paisley Park. The executors have already hired a real estate agent and intend to list it for $7 million.
TMZ adds that several of Prince’s family members are against these plans and “will do everything they can to block the administrators.”
As discovered last month, Prince also owned the house from Purple Rain. It’s unclear whether that property will also be put up for sale.
Update: A judge has granted approval to Prince’s trust to sell six of the late musician’s properties, according to Rolling Stone. The list includes properties located in Chanhassen as well as a property in the Turks and Caicos islands and a 156-acre plot located on the shores of Lakes Ann and Lucy, valued at nearly $14 million.
At this point, the executors have not asked permission to sell Paisley Park, Rolling Stone notes.
