Aaron Dessner’s Brooklyn abode has hosted The National, Sharon Van Etten, and even Mumford and Sons. Now, it could play home to you, as Dessner has listed the property for sale.
Located in Ditmas Park (technically Beverly Square West, but I’m technically in Greenwood Heights, so I know how little “technically” means in Brooklyn), the two-family house features the recording studio in which High Violet, Trouble Will Find Me, and Tramp were all recorded, among other albums by a range of artists. The National frontman Matt Berninger was renting the upstairs duplex, while Dessner lived downstairs.
The listing is currently live with an asking price of $2,350,000, a whopping $1,615,000 more than Dessner paid for it 11 years ago. It seems worth the cost even without the history, though, as there’s been a lot of work done to the place. The cedar siding exterior was just renovated, there’s a porch with a swing, parquet floors, a tiger oak staircase, stained glass windows, a two-car garage, and a working fireplace. And yeah, there’s also a recording studio.
The property sits at 236 Stratford Road, and Brownstoner has the listing. No word yet on if Dessner’s twin brother, Bryce (who lives down the street), is also planning a move. Below, check out some more pictures of the home.
